My dear friend Lydia (FINALLY) released her second book this past Thursday, and I had the pleasure of spending my Sunday afternoon reading it, lost in the beautifully complex world of Epta.It's been over a year since I read her first book, The Seven Thrones, yet I was instantly drawn back into the story and its characters upon beginning this sequel, something which I was very glad of. This is a mark of an excellent storyteller. :)
This book was basically ACTION and FEELINGS and REVEALS and PLOT TWISTS and I loved every second of it. I also love the sassy characters, and "You parked your dragon in my back yard?!" So much yes.
I love this story of young kings and queens, and magic, and love, and hurt, and bravery, and friendship, and of course dragons. Book three cannot come soon enough!
So grateful that I get to be friends with this lovely writerly soul! Her story-spinning is wonderful. xx

This escapade is a great follow up to the first book! Ms. Petersen has definitely grown as an author through out this series. Her imagination has taken flight in this story of adventure, mystery, romance, and never ending surprises! I was blown away by the eloquent writing and amazing plot twists this story held. As soon as I thought I knew where she was going with the story, Ms. Petersen, would surprise me again with a new development. You will definitely be blown away by this second story in the Epta Chronicles.

A wonderful sequel to the Seven Thrones! A highly imaginative story that takes you on journey full daring adventure! It is full of plot twists that keep you turning the page to the very end!
This book is the perfect sequel to "The Seven Thrones." Ms. Petersen does a fabulous job of providing a book that leaves her readers wanting more. I know that for me, I can't wait for the third book to come out to see how her amazing story ends!
An incredible story! The more you read, the more drawn into the fantastic world that Ms Peterson has created. The characters are amazing and you can't help getting attached. So many plot twist, including one that blew my mind. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone. Read it, it's amazing and you will fall in love with the magical world of Epta.

I'm so glad to finally have read Lydia's second book, "The Seven Pawns"!
As usual, I'm very impressed with her character's interactions and her world-building. She established Epta solidly in the first book and it feels natural to ease back into in the second novel.
Some new and old characters are introduced and expanded on, one of which was Eagle, who I loved. I found her character was both complex and endearing, and altogether a great addition to the series. Her hideaway island was so serene and picturesque, I rather wish I could go there myself.
I empathized with Nameless as well, and found myself, the usually-steadfast-shipper, confused in who he ought to be paired with. I'm successfully torn between pairings, Eagle or Rhoda?
The book gets better as it goes along, and made what would have been a very dull flight an entertaining one. Lydia sneaked in several plot twists, too, which were very fun to read.
This was a brilliant read, and I think Lydia's writing is only getting better as she goes! Apart from some trivial grammar errors and a few deus ex machina moments, the book was delightful and imaginative, and I'm thrilled to read the next installment!
